The Vietage Train

The Reunification Express
Vietnam's Reunification Express refers to the trains running between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), offering a scenic and practical way to explore the country. While there is no single train officially bearing this name, the route includes a variety of services. The railway, completed by the French in 1936, linked Hanoi and Saigon until 1954 when Vietnam was divided into north and south. Services resumed on December 31, 1976, symbolizing the country's unification.
The train stops at major destinations such as Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phan Thiet (Mui Ne). The "Soft Sleeper" class, the most comfortable option, features cabins with four berths (which can be booked privately) and space for luggage under the lower bunks. Each carriage includes a wash basin and communal toilets at the ends. Pillows and blankets are provided, and while meals are sometimes served, bringing your own food is recommended.
Thailand Railways (Bangkok/Chang Mai) trains 9, and 10
Thailand's meter-gauge rail system is among the finest globally, providing a comfortable, safe, affordable, and eco-friendly way to explore the country. Train travel not only allows you to enjoy the scenery but also delivers an authentic Thai experience that flying cannot replicate. Train #9 and #10 offer modern carriages feature air-conditioning and offer first and second-class sleeper options. Second-class berths have bunk beds separated by a central walkway, each with a privacy curtain, while first-class cabins include lockable doors for added security. They feature a restaurant car as well as two sets of toilet facilities per carriage.
